Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Experience with special needs children: Children with a mental health disability, Children with an intellectual disability, Children with behavioral issues, Children with allergies, Children with asthma, and Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1) and Emergency child care first aid and CPR
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, Child welfare check, and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and be non-smokers
  • The candidates should be able to work in air-conditioned environments
  • The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks and physically demanding tasks
  • The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as bending, crouching, and kneeling as needed

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should prioritize punctuality and demonstrate dependability
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The candidates should exhibit flexibility, interpersonal awareness, and exercise good judgment in their approach to work
  • The candidates should be reliable team players who uphold values and ethics

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the development of children
  • The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings and establish guidelines for behavior
  • The candidates should have knowledge of licensing regulations and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, including activities for school-age children before and after regular school hours
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
