Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Food Handlers Certification
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of culinary work experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate flexibility to work at various locations, including Q-Banquet at the Civic Centre, Living Arts Centre, BraeBen Golf Course, and potentially Lakeview Golf Course, Lakefront Promenade, and Malton Youth Hub based on skills and availability
- The candidates should be available to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and a variety of early morning and late evening shifts and capable of light lifting as part of their duties
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have formal training with strong food preparation, cooking, and presentation skills
- The candidates should have Smart Serve certification and obtain Emergency First Aid or CPR “B” Certification within 6 months of employment
- The candidates should have knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work independently of Full Time, Permanent staff, including in the absence of the Chef, for minor events and functions (preps, portion, cook, serve)
- The candidates should be able to provide direction to other Part Time Staff in the absence of the Chef
- The candidates should be able to prepare proteins and cook dishes, including a la carte items and follow specific recipes set by the Chef
- The candidates should be able to monitor inventory control and maintain par stock levels and coordinate timely food service in the kitchen
- The candidates should be able to assist the Chef or Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
- The candidates should be able to maintain proper procedures for cleaning dishes and kitchen utensils
- The candidates should be able to provide the highest level of customer service consistently and assist in the ordering of product
