Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 11
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; demonstrated programming experience in a recreational or applicable setting

Other Requirements:

The candidates should have an educational background in Recreation or other related experience, which is an asset
The candidates should possess current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
The candidates should have completed AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
The candidates should demonstrate awareness of City of Ottawa Policies and Procedures, especially in relation to Safety/Security of programs
The candidates should have knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting or independently
The candidates should demonstrate the ability to train and supervise staff and volunteers
The candidates should preferably have computer competency
The candidates should exhibit excellent public relations, leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with flexibility
The candidates should possess creative intuition and be skilled communicators

Responsibilities:

The candidates should be able to oversee the coordination of recreation, arts, special needs, aquatics, or sports programs to a variety of age groups in a recreational setting
The candidates should be able to ensure that communities, residents, and visitors have access to recreation and cultural places, programs, events, and services
The candidates should be able to facilitate the delivery of improved service integration in City facilities for the best possible client experience
The candidates should be able to contribute to building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant city through the coordination of recreation, arts, special needs, aquatics, or sports programs
The candidates should be able to manage and oversee Buildings and Facilities Management to enhance service delivery integration
