City of Winnipeg’s Assets and Project Management department is responsible for overseeing the city’s infrastructure projects and asset management. It provides strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of municipal assets such as roads, bridges, and facilities. By optimizing resources and prioritizing projects, the department ensures efficient delivery of services to residents. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in an Office Cleaner/Custodial position in facilities such as office buildings, hospitals, schools or similar work environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing and able to move locations per Management direction based on operational needs
  • The candidates should be physically capable of performing all of the duties of the position in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should exhibit the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in the application of cleaning products and should demonstrate the ability to use commercial cleaning products and equipment
  • The candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with staff and the general public in a professional and respectful manner
  • The candidates should demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks within tight timelines and have verbal communication skills with the ability to understand and execute instructions
  • The candidates should have written communication skills with the ability to complete documents such as logs and reports clearly and concisely
  • The candidates should possess a St. John’s Ambulance Emergency First Aid Certificate or equivalent or be willing and able to obtain it within three (3) months

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform cleaning duties in civic buildings, including furnishing and fixtures and able to conduct ground maintenance work, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the surrounding areas
  • The candidates should be able to perform building operations duties such as locking and unlocking door and able to perform passive security duties to maintain the safety of civic buildings
  • The candidates should be able to empty wastepaper and recycling baskets, disposal units, and remove waste to designated areas and able to dry and mop various floor surfaces, and vacuum carpets, walk-off mats, chairs, and furnishings
  • The candidates should be able to dust all furniture, fixtures, telephones, venetian blinds, etc. and able to wipe walls, doors, frames, furniture, desks, filing cabinets, venetian blinds, and fixtures
  • The candidates should be able to clean glass and mirrors and able to operate hand or power cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and polishers
  • The candidates should be able to clean and disinfect washroom fixtures, hand basins, counters, toilets, urinals, walls, exposed plumbing pipes, dispensers, metal partitions, drinking fountains, doors, and frames
  • The candidates should be able to empty and disinfect all waste receptacles and disposal units and able to wash and disinfect floors and walls and apply floor finish to floors
  • The candidates should be able to replenish washroom supplies and able to report inoperative and broken fixtures and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to remove debris around buildings and shovel snow, keeping walks, entrances, and emergency exit doors clear, safe, and operational year-round
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the moving of furniture as needed
