Our dedicated team of qualified educators and caregivers ensure the well-being and growth of each child through engaging activities and age-appropriate learning opportunities. Job Description:

Salary: $23.95 to $25.95 hourly (to be negotiated) for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: 5121-52nd Street Yellowknife, NT X1A 1T7
Work setting: Child care centre, Day care centre or nursery school

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset 
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Medical exam, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test, Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically demanding, and a repetitive tasker
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
  • The candidates should be able to do manual dexterity
  • The candidates should be able to work in a non-smoking area

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be dependable, flexible, reliable
  • The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position.
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • The candidates should be able to knowledge of Day Nurseries Act
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
