Tiny Tot based in Charlottetown, PE is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of ECE assistant. Tiny Tot is a cherished childcare center specializing in early childhood education. Shifts: Day, 09:00 to 17:00
Transportation information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, and Public transportation is available
Work setting: Child care centre
Supervision: 5-10 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Experience with special needs children: Children with a mental health disability, Children with an intellectual disability, Children with behavioral issues, and Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Child development supervisor (ECE level 3), Child development worker (ECE level 2), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in potentially noisy environments
  • The candidates should be non-smokers and capable of performing repetitive tasks
  • The candidates should be physically fit to handle demanding tasks and have a keen attention to detail
  • The work may involve a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • The candidates should possess manual dexterity for various tasks

  • The candidates should maintain punctuality and exhibit dependability in their tasks
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills, demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, and display flexibility in their approach to work
  • The candidates should have interpersonal awareness and exhibit sound judgment in decision-making
  • The candidates should be reliable in meeting job responsibilities and be effective team players
  • The candidates should uphold values and ethics in their professional conduct, have the ability to multitask, and showcase creativity in their work

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should engage in storytelling and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and engage children in activities like telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should provide opportunities for children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • The candidates should guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits and maintain daycare equipment
  • The candidates should assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, prepare snacks, and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • The candidates should submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors and discuss progress or problems at staff meetings
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about licensing regulations, establish guidelines for behavior, and assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children
  • The candidates should discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, attend staff meetings, and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  • The candidates should plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
