Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Grade XII plus 3 years’ further concentrated study
Experience: Candidates should have 8 years and up to and including 10 years experience in the relevant field
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a good knowledge of electrical and electronic theory related to the performance of distribution and metering operations, telecommunications, control, and metering equipment and circuitry
- The candidates should possess a knowledge of electricity and materials as they apply to transmission lines equipment and have a knowledge of computerized systems to manage system requirements
- The candidates should demonstrate good communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
- The candidates should have a good knowledge of English to prepare correspondence and technical reports and have experience with distribution and metering to establish contacts and be familiar with the distribution and meter service provider layout programs
- The candidates should have experience with health and safety standards, equipment materials, and work methods to provide technical guidance and appropriate reaction in terms of emergency situations
- The candidates should have experience in developing procedures governing approval of requested equipment, and staff and have experience to be familiar with project work and the coordination of the work of various work groups
- The candidates should have experience in the supervisory aspects of the job as it relates to the handling of staffing and personnel matters, control & flow of work
- The candidates should have experience within the ADET role, experience with the ADET role and experience with the HODS approval and change process as an author
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to supervise and be responsible for the work of a group engaged in area distribution engineering and meter service provider layout programs, including meter reading and able to coordinate the work priorities of the area distribution engineering and meter service provider programs, line extensions, subdivisions, new connects, service upgrades, and line services
- The candidates should be able to collaborate on the work program, monitor program status, and report progress and able to assign appropriate portions of the work program to subordinate supervisors and have content authority for Design Services Programs
- The candidates should be able to liaise with Training & Development Services on schedules and assist in updates to training material and able to implement DA Qualified criteria and assist in Regional rollouts
- The candidates should be able to support Training & Development Services in the development of a Trainee Mentorship Program and the enhancement of ADET Training, SDET Training, leave refresher training, and other relevant training for Design Services staff. They should also monitor Trainee Rotation and Evaluation
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize work group activities, schedule and assign work to staff, provide instructions, direct them on their problem areas, and review and evaluate their performance
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement work procedures and systems as required, make effective recommendations on human resource matters, and establish performance measures and perform reviews
- The candidates should be able to provide clear expectations and meaningful feedback, as well as guidance, assistance, and support to staff in the resolution of personnel problems and the establishment and maintenance of a healthy and safe work environment
- The candidates should be able to work cooperatively with Zone Coordinating/Scheduling groups to ensure appropriate priorities are established for various programs and services
- The candidates should be able to administer work management systems, prepare annual safety programs, provide safety leadership to the unit, and monitor the effectiveness of safety programs
- The candidates should be able to participate in accident investigations, conduct safety analyses, identify hazards, and take corrective action as necessary
- The candidates should be able to administer and monitor outside lines resources, decide work to be contracted, arrange tenders, recommend awards, and monitor work in progress
- The candidates should be able to ensure appropriate tools, transport, and work equipment are available and maintained, review distribution lines work methods, recommend improvement programs, and arrange technical upgrading sessions as required
- The candidates should be able to oversee apprentice programs, provide data and necessary reports on section activities to supervisors, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
