Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a community college diploma in Agronomy or Turf Management
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years previous experience in the golf industry in a supervisory role

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in various operational areas of the Parks Services Department as necessary during December through February1
  • The candidates should be aware that hours of work vary but are scheduled in advance and may include afternoons, weekends, holidays, as well as unscheduled hours for overtime
  • The candidates should demonstrate proven excellent customer service skills and flexibility in work schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • The candidates should have a valid G Ontario driver’s license in good standing

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a valid Ontario Landscape Exterminators License
  • The candidates should possess a valid I.P.M. (Integrated Pest Management) accreditation, or be in the process of completing the accreditation and consideration will be given to applicants who are in the process, with a requirement to complete the accreditation within 3 months of the start date
  • The candidate should submit a current Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last three months) from their local police service for approval by the Corporation
  • The candidates should provide proof of current and valid certificates and educational qualifications
  • The candidates should be able to communicate daily activities with golf staff and foster a team approach

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to manage turf grass and plant material maintenance programs
  • The candidates should be able to oversee personnel, scheduling, and maintenance of irrigation systems
  • The candidates should be able to conduct pesticide applications and maintain related records, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • The candidates should be able to develop and execute a maintenance master plan for Golf Operations
  • The candidates should be able to provide agronomic direction for Golf Operations
