Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program over three to four years in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have Over two (2) years up to and including four (4) years related experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge of the application of Heritage Planning Policies, Practices, and Procedures
- The candidates should have knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel
- The candidates should possess exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
- The candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team
- The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication skills
- The candidates should have the ability to work effectively with staff in a team environment
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to prepare and review amendments to the Official Plan and Secondary Plan to ensure compliance with current heritage policies
- The candidates should be able to review development applications to determine their impact on heritage resources and ensure compliance with the City’s heritage policies
- The candidates should be able to act as a staff liaison and provide support for the Brampton Heritage Board and the Churchville Heritage Committee
- The candidates should be able to respond to internal (City staff and Council) and public inquiries related to heritage matters
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement policy initiatives related to heritage preservation and able to administer the granting of heritage permits within the Churchville Heritage Conservation District based on the City’s Heritage Permit Process
- The candidates should be able to administer special projects related to the heritage portfolio and be able to designate properties under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act
- The candidates should be able to handle media inquiries related to heritage resource issues and should be able to administer the municipal role in Federal or Provincial funding programs related to heritage
- The candidates should be able to maintain municipal heritage archives and should be able to act as a heritage advocate within the department and the City
- The candidates should be able to perform additional similar and related duties as assigned
