Shift: 8 hour day shift Monday to Friday

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a second Class Power (Operating) Engineers Certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a current and valid driver’s license in the province of Ontario (Class G or equivalent)
  • The candidates should currently hold or be working towards obtaining their 2nd Class Power (Operating) Engineers certification
  • The candidates should have written and passed 3 or more Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) exams

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform PM maintenance and minor repairs in the Power House and assist the Shift Engineer during Plant process upset conditions and conduct monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and spill kits
  • The candidates should be able to administer first aid to injured workers as required and complete and distribute first aid reports to supervisors promptly and accurately record readings for all major utility meters
  • The candidates should be able to perform weekly testing of diesel fire pumps and conduct sprinkler checks and conduct weekly testing and inspection of emergency shower and eyewash stations and check operations of Geka boiler and ammonia compressors, communicating findings with EOF supervision and recording information in the EOF Engineer’s Log Book
  • The candidates should be able to attend and participate in training as required by Bunge and uphold a high standard of housekeeping in the boiler room and diesel fire pump house and maintain good manufacturing practices (GMP) at all times and comply with all Bunge Canada Corporate policies including Safe Work Practices, Emergency Measures Plan, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario, ensuring safety standards in all work areas
  • The candidates should be able to comply with Work Instruction – Operational Procedures, the latest version of the Technical Standards and Safety Act of Ontario, and other regulatory authorities and monitor operations via DeltaV computer and take appropriate action  and produce steam, instrument air, plant air, and emergency power as required by production processes, meeting or exceeding company quality, environmental, and operating cost standards
  • The candidates should be able to perform and document water tests Boiler feed water, condensate, sodium water softener and dealkalizer water hardness and maintain all fire systems in proper and safe working order
  • The candidates should be able to respond quickly to high conductivity condensate alarms, identifying and addressing issues to prevent adverse effects on boilers and equipment and blow down all air receivers, oil separators, and air compressors at least once per shift
  • The candidates should be able to receive calls during off hours and relay messages to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, aiming to answer calls before they go to voicemail and promptly respond to process alarms to maintain safe and efficient operating conditions
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the safe and efficient use of all equipment, ensuring only necessary equipment is operating and in good condition and communicate effectively over the plant-wide PA system during plant fire alarms and evacuations
  • The candidates should be able to report operational and equipment problems to the Supervisor and follow Company call-in procedures as needed to minimize downtime and maintain the boiler operator’s logbook as required by the TSSA Operating Engineer Regulation
