Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of grade ten or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have one year of related experience; education may be substituted for experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess the physical ability to perform required duties, including heavy lifting and pushing of furniture and equipment, considerable walking, and stair climbing

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and writing, and the ability to work independently
  • The candidates should have awareness of building security and fire procedures
  • The candidates should demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with others

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to, under general supervision, perform heavy cleaning and custodial duties.
  • The candidates should be able to move and set up furniture and equipment on a routine basis and for special events
  • The candidates should be able to clean and scrub floors and washrooms using appropriate equipment, including automatic floor cleaning machines, electric buffers, mops, and vacuum cleaners
  • The candidates should be able to set up cleaning equipment for use and maintain cleaning equipment
  • The candidates should be able to recondition floors using appropriate equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform routine and special room set-ups, which entail following work orders, room diagrams, and verbal instructions, moving and setting up furniture and equipment according to plan and schedule, opening and locking doors to assigned rooms, and may assist in setting out academic examination booklets
  • The candidates should be able to clear furniture and equipment as requested and store them in appropriate areas
  • The candidates should be able to perform maintenance functions such as changing lights and making minor adjustments to furniture and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required
