- The candidates should have) possess a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent and extensive practical knowledge and directly related experience in a supervisory or management capacity
- The candidates should be registered as a Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) as a Licensed Engineer and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- The candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of electrical, electronic, and software principles, methods, and practices
- The candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of renewable generation, electrical distribution systems, Ontario’s energy market, and regulatory requirements
- The candidates should have knowledge of procedures and techniques applicable to the installation, maintenance, repair, and construction of vehicle chargers, electrical load controls, electrical substations, underground feeder networks, and wiring/service systems and equipment and obtain WHMIS certification and OHSA training
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure the timely and efficient design and construction of EV charging systems, vehicle charging management systems, and the inspection, repair, and maintenance of EV chargers to support TTC’s all-electric transit vehicle fleets
- The candidates should be able to develop short- and long-term plans, determine priorities, and coordinate programs to ensure the timely and effective implementation of vehicle charging infrastructure and provide electrical engineering expertise in the preparation, review, and approval of detailed designs, including writing specifications
- The candidates should be able to estimate and schedule various projects, including solar installations and energy storage systems and initiate and approve plans and projects for the construction, inspection, repair, and maintenance of vehicle charging equipment and electrical systems
- The candidates should be able to analyze bids for materials, equipment, and services, recommend purchases, and participate in the awarding of contracts and respond to onsite Ontario One Call requests as mandated by law
- The candidates should be able to ensure that all electrical work conforms to applicable standards, including the Electrical Safety Authority/EUSA (Electrical Utility Safety Association) and other power utility standards and ensure the electrical safety of employees and the general public
- The candidates should be able to promote and maintain professional working relationships and communications among staff, management, consultants, contractors, and external agencies
- The candidates should be able to set and monitor the section’s goals and objectives and oversee the section’s Operating and Capital budgets and develop business cases to incorporate battery energy storage and solar energy systems
- The candidates should be able to ensure reports outlining labour, equipment, and expended materials are readily available for review and analysis to assist in planning, estimating, and cost control and prepare justifications for expenditures, monitor expenditures against approved budgets, and justify variances
