Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Ontario or inter-provincial trade qualification
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 5 years mechanical experience in underground mining operations
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be self-motivated and able to work alone
- The candidates should have the ability to diagnose, repair, maintain, and overhaul mobile mining equipment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a strong safety focus, accreditation in specialty modules and accreditation in underground (U/G) common core modules
- The candidates should have an excellent understanding of hydraulic and electrical schematics
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to check mobile mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunction
- The candidates should be able to perform equipment removal, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, and repair
- The candidates should be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair
- The candidates should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools
- The candidates should be able to test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
- The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
- The candidates should be able to attach components and adjust new equipment and perform repair work on heavy trucks
- The candidates should be able to open work orders, find parts, and complete parts lists in work orders using all available resources and perform other duties as assigned by the Mobile Mechanical Supervisor
