Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post-secondary education in agriculture, natural resource management or other science disciplines such as Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have experience in managing standard project budgets and expenditures

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should be willing to travel by air, water, off-road vehicles, and foot to remote locations in harsh conditions
  • The candidates should be physically capable of performing all required position duties, including sitting and standing for prolonged periods, prolonged walking outdoors, prolonged exposure to the elements, working in an active construction environment, and loading and unloading field equipment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to prioritize, plan, analyze, and execute assigned duties in a systematic and efficient manner under limited supervision
  • The candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage potentially high conflict situations effectively
  • The candidates should have excellent written communication skills and have excellent verbal communication skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate computer proficiency with word processing software, email programs, spreadsheet applications, and databases
  • The candidates should possess strong problem solving skills
  • The candidates should have experience with GPS and GIS applications
  • The candidates should have experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, including the monitoring of exploration and development activities, application of engineering, environmental and safety standards and practices as it relates specifically to the exploration, development, operation and production of oil and gas resources

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to execute regulatory compliance and enforcement programs related to the upstream oil and gas industry in alignment with the Oil and Gas Act
  • The candidates should be able to conduct thorough field inspections to ensure compliance with regulations governing drilling, construction, production, operation, abandonment, decommissioning, and reclamation of wells and facilities
  • The candidates should be able to review and approve technical programs and applications submitted by industry stakeholders, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and requirements
  • The candidates should be able to provide clear guidance and support to industry stakeholders regarding regulatory obligations and best practices in the upstream oil and gas sector
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community members, to address regulatory issues and promote compliance
  • The candidates should be able to conduct thorough investigations into complaints and incidents related to oil and gas activities, taking appropriate enforcement actions as needed.
  • The candidates should be able to maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing outreach and education on regulatory requirements and enforcement procedures
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and impartiality in all aspects of their work related to regulatory compliance and enforcement activities
