Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a degree in Land Use Planning
Experience: Candidates should have experience in urban and rural planning
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to effectively exchange information, work independently and in a team environment
- The candidates should be able to manage time and tasks effectively, strong relationship-building skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP), experience with GIS systems, databases, and spatial analysis
- The candidates should have knowledge of urban and rural planning, knowledge of provincial planning operations, processes, and procedures
- The candidates should have knowledge of the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000, and other related acts and legislation
- The candidates should be proficient with GIS, digital mapping, and analysis, be proficient with Google Earth
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to review land use planning documents to ensure consistency with provincial policy and law
- The candidates should be able to respond to requests regarding municipal planning areas
- The candidates should be able to review referrals, such as Crown Lands referrals and perform other land use planning-related duties
- The candidates should be able to prepare technical reports for appeals under the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000
- The candidates should be able to utilize geographic information systems (GIS) and other resource-related computer software for spatial analysis, mapping, data capture, and management
