Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of University degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, commerce, business administration and project management
Experience: Candidates should have Seven to Nine years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including all aspects of project initiation, planning, execution and completion
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to make decisions in a prompt, clear and consistent manner
- The candidates should be able to plan and prepare project schedules, timelines, and budgets efficiently
- The candidates should be able to prepare forecasts of short- and long-term projects accurately
- The candidates should be able to supervise, coach, mentor and motivate project team members effectively
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience working with diverse populations and groups to deliver projects or programs
- The candidates should possess a Project management certification such as Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP)
- The candidates should have knowledge of waste reduction and waste diversion
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, including the ability to prepare and present oral and written reports of a specialized, financial or technical nature
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to deal courteously and tactfully with consultants, suppliers, the public and other civic employees
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of civic staff, including senior administration and elected official
- The candidates should be able to communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders effectively
- The candidates should be able to consult with the communications department on public engagement and media communications for projects efficiently
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to develop project charters collaboratively with project sponsor and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to internal stakeholders convincingly
- The candidates should be able to track and monitor project milestones, deliverables, issues, and risks systematically
- The candidates should be able to identify and manage project dependencies and critical path effectively and manage consultant contracts by preparing tenders and requests for proposals efficiently
- The candidates should be able to prepare budget submissions to Municipal budget and identify external grants proficiently and estimate resource requirements accurately and negotiate resources from applicable business divisions and departments
- The candidates should be able to direct long-range studies involving performance measurement and analysis for corporate projects
- The candidates should be able to support the lifecycle of a project including developing business cases, initiating, planning, and controlling projects proficiently
- The candidates should be able to encourage positive action and accountability for assigned work consistently
- The candidates should be able to prepare detailed project definitions and identify terms of reference meticulously and define project success criteria and communicate them clearly throughout the project life cycle
- The candidates should be able to review proposals for consultant selections and administer consultant agreements proficiently
- The candidates should be able to ensure a customer service culture by promoting leadership, accountability, recognition, complex, sensitive, and confidential issues regularly and facilitate collaborative solutions to these issues effectively
