Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should be registered in good standing as a Psychologist or Psychological Associate in autonomous practice in the Province of Ontario
Experience:Â Candidates should have experience of the theory and practices of psychology, including current rehabilitative, treatment, and assessment techniques
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of the science and practices of psychology, including psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques to plan, conduct, and coordinate services
- The candidates should be able to apply complex treatment techniques and provide consultation and advice on the diagnosis and treatment of offenders
- The candidates should possess knowledge of forensic psychological theories, practices, and procedures
- The candidates should be effective communicators, able to convey information on assessment approaches, findings, and treatment and rehabilitative activities
- The candidates should be skilled in using motivational interviewing techniques to encourage the use of psychological services with the goal of promoting change
- The candidates should be capable of maintaining strong working relationships with staff in multi-disciplinary teams and community agencies
- The candidates should have the ability to determine the most appropriate diagnostic approach from a range of alternatives
- The candidates should be able to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of treatment and rehabilitative programs
- The candidates should demonstrate sound judgment when working with highly confidential information and cases
- The candidates should be capable of organizing and coordinating psychological services
- The candidates should possess knowledge of and experience with program evaluation techniques
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide a wide variety of psychological services related to the diagnosis, treatment, assessment, and evaluation of offenders
- The candidates should be able to facilitate psychological rehabilitation, conduct therapy, and administer, evaluate, and interpret psychological tests
- The candidates should be able to provide risk assessment reports to the Ontario Parole Board
- The candidates should be able to organize and conduct research and program evaluation projects
- The candidates should be able to assist with staff training programs
- The candidates should be able to provide consultation and advice to the management team, and respond to inquiries
