Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e., Industrial/Mechanical Engineering) or combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have three years of experience to become familiar with the materials, equipment, and operations of the assigned location

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered with the Professional Engineers Ontario, as it is mandatory
  • The candidates should possess a sound knowledge of industrial/process engineering principles, methods, and practices
  • The candidates should demonstrate familiarity with project management concepts/practices as well as legislation pertinent to Labour, safety, and environmental issues
  • The candidates should exhibit sound judgment, well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and costing skills
  • The candidates should showcase strong work systems design skills combined with organizational and strategic planning ability
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective interpersonal, verbal communication, and technical report writing skills
  • The candidates should have strong computer skills for programs used to gather, analyze, and report data
  • The candidates should be capable of directing and coordinating the work of others to accomplish objectives
  • The candidates should have the ability to plan and coordinate the work of others when researching work methods and overseeing their implementation
  • The candidates should be able to motivate, evaluate the performance of, train, counsel, and discipline subordinate employees
  • The candidates should understand, interpret, and apply Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures as well as applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • The candidates should be adept at handling changing work conditions and priorities as a regular routine

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support productive cost centres with industrial engineering expertise to enable continuous improvement in quality, reliability, process, productivity, and safety
  • The candidates should be able to manage assets, coordinate preventative maintenance programs for equipment and facilities, and develop and execute departmental capital improvement programs
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with various TTC and external representatives to document and analyze current workflow and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to identify problem areas and prescribe specific courses of action required for resolution
  • The candidates should be able to develop standards for reliability, quality, and productivity
  • The candidates should be able to develop new and/or revised procedures/work methods to achieve established standards
  • The candidates should be able to produce procedural documentation using methodologies that allow for constant changes and additions
  • The candidates should be able to review and audit work performed in bus maintenance facilities to ensure adequacy, completeness, and adherence to new or revised standards
  • The candidates should be able to conduct workload and time studies, time study process charting, operation analysis, work sampling, standard methods, and time formulas to develop work performance standards and measurements
  • The candidates should be able to perform long-range planning for facilities to meet the department’s future needs and objectives
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate and identify cost reductions to ensure operational efficiency
  • The candidates should be able to prepare facility design and layout of the work location, machinery, and equipment, and design, select, and/or evaluate equipment and materials
  • The candidates should be able to provide support to non-revenue maintenance operations
  • The candidates should be able to manage projects effectively, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget constraints
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate specialized expertise and knowledge in the assigned field, contributing valuable insights and solutions
  • The candidates should be able to utilize office technology, software, and applications proficiently to enhance productivity
  • The candidates should be able to apply analytical skills to assess data and make informed decisions
  • The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities/projects to align with section and organizational goals, optimizing resources and timelines
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively in a variety of mediums, ensuring clarity and understanding among stakeholders
