Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualification such as completion of a university (bachelor) program and also an undergraduate or master’s degree in health, policy, IT, security, law or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates need a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, a minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting privacy impact assessments, health privacy experience is preferred, having direct operational level privacy experience preferably in a health sector and/or IT environment is considered is an asset, have demonstrated knowledge and experience of access and privacy requirements and practices, preferably related to the health and public sectors and also have experience with conducting and/or providing oversight for Privacy Impact Assessments including developing privacy requirements, risk mitigation plans, corporate policies and developing and/or delivering training content

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work with being a part of the dedicated team of privacy professionals that lead the development of a fit-for-purpose privacy program for some of the most exciting and transformative health initiatives in Ontario
  • The candidate should be able to play an important role in championing and establishing privacy-by-design principles and best practices for OH.
  • The candidate should be able to work with being a part of the team that leads the development of a privacy program for some of the most exciting and transformative initiatives in Ontario.
  • The candidate having recognized access and privacy designation (CIPP/C) is preferred and also having recognized security certification or designation is an asset
  • The candidate should have the knowledge of Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and also have Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
  • The candidate should have a thorough understanding of “privacy-by-design” and best practices.
  • The candidate should having the knowledge of technology architecture and infrastructure, digital health solutions and services, enterprise and corporate IT including information and cyber security preferred and also have working knowledge of digital health technologies and information security industry standards
  • The candidate should excel in a fast-paced and project focused environment and also have exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • The candidate should have strong written and verbal communication.
  • The candidate should be able to provide a security clearance and a criminal record check

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be responsible for ensuring Ontarians receive high-quality health care services where and when they need them and also should be able to report to the Manager, Privacy, the Senior Privacy Specialist will support, and lead activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of and adherence to the Ontario Health (OH) Privacy Program
  • The candidate should be responsible for various functions and activities of the Privacy Office, by applying and further improving privacy analysis, acting as an advisor by completing privacy impact assessments and providing consultation on a diverse range of complex, multi-stakeholder health privacy issues and Information Technology (IT) initiatives
  • The candidate should be able to report to the Manager, Privacy, the Senior Privacy Specialist is responsible for assisting the team in ensuring OH programs comply with privacy rules and regulations
  • The candidate should be able to develop privacy policies and procedures and also conduct privacy impact assessments for medium to high complex initiatives
  • The candidate may be required to support investigating privacy incidents, patient inquiries, and privacy requests of any kind and also be able to identify and assess privacy risks.
  • The candidate should be able to lead and/or participate on OH, regional or provincial committees or project teams as the privacy Subject Matter Expert and also identify privacy requirements
  • The candidate should be able to develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of privacy and also respond and provide advice and legislative interpretation for information and access requests, consent management requests, complaints or inquiries, appeals and privacy issues under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • The candidate should be able to support privacy program projects and activities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Privacy Office and also develop and deliver privacy training for Ontario Health.
  • The candidate should be able to perform other duties as required
