Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have 4-year degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering or the equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have seven to Eight years of work experience in computer networks, system administration or a related field including experience working in an academic and/or research environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should work outside of normal working hours to correct problems and restore systems to good working order

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess strong organizational, planning, leadership, team building, and time management skills and have extensive knowledge and experience in software deployment and deployment automation tools, especially MDT and SCCM
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable of and have extensive experience with standard system and network administration tools, shell scripting (bash, sh, tcsh, and/or csh), scripting languages (python, and/or ruby), and mailing list management
  • The candidates should have experience working in an academic and/or research environment and have extensive knowledge of Windows and UNIX-based operating systems, specifically Linux
  • The candidates should possess knowledge and understanding of Web servers, including LAMP and WAMP installations and have experience in working with hypervisors and virtualized servers and services
  • The candidates should have experience in planning, administering, and operating a large independent computing and data facility with a heterogeneous software and hardware environment, remote user access, and data backup and recovery, offering high availability and high throughput computing
  • The candidates should have experience in planning, problem-solving, integrating, and administrating large heterogeneous online and offline storage, including RAID, iSCSI, NAS, and SAN and have extensive experience with a routed TCP/IP local area network, including multi-vendor Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking hardware
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment and have knowledge and experience in designing and implementing stand-alone network workgroups and servers
  • The candidates should possess knowledge and understanding of client and server-side programming languages and should be highly motivated self-starters with a proven ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for the candidates to provide support and advice to individuals of varying levels of experience and to be able to communicate effectively and often diplomatically on behalf of the School with personnel external to the School and the University
  • The candidates should possess UNIX training or certification, specifically in LINUX, Windows training or certification, and supervisory experience

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Director of the School of Information Technology
  • The candidates should be able to manage, plan, install, maintain, support, and optimize the computing infrastructure within the School of Information Technology
  • The candidates should be able to oversee strategic planning for the School’s computing infrastructure, including equipment, data, and network security
  • The candidates should be able to work beyond normal work hours as resources are utilized twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year
  • The candidates should be able to be “on call” as required and work outside of regular business hours, if necessary, to complete specific work or resolve problems
