Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team within a unionized environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have provincial equivalent (GED), with equivalent experience considered in lieu of a high school diploma
  • The candidates should possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical, electronics, or a related discipline, along with or have a minimum of 5 years of concurrent and recent experience coaching, mentoring, and supervising employees or contractors within an industrial maintenance setting
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office understand the major features of each software application
  • The candidates should hold a Red Seal designation (Millwright or Industrial Electrician) or a designation as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Certified Engineering Technician (CET)
  • The candidates should have experience within industries heavily dependent on rotating equipment or conveyor systems to move materials or packages
  • The candidates should possess a working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to Lockout Tag Out procedures (CSA Z460-13 “Control of Hazardous Energy – Lockout and Other Methods”) and Working at Heights (Canada Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, SOR/86-304, Sections 12.01 to 12.09)
  • The candidates should have experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) asset management systems, with MAXIMO as a preferred platform

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate the implementation of all maintenance programs for mail processing and handling equipment to ensure compliance with performance standards (KPI) and legislated requirements
  • The candidates should be able to achieve optimum equipment performance by executing preventative maintenance programs in line with maintenance plans, schedules, and standards
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with the Superintendent Maintenance and Scheduling to adjust schedules and provide feedback on work completed or not completed, performing scheduling and planning (corrective work) duties
  • The candidates should be able to oversee corrective and breakdown maintenance activities, ensuring they are carried out safely, correctly, and efficiently to maximize equipment availability
  • The candidates should be able to promote and maintain a safe working environment by providing appropriate training, documentation, personal protective equipment, tools, and established procedures, while ensuring safety remains a priority in all work practices and encouraging team initiative
  • The candidates should be able to assign qualified employees to effectively execute maintenance programs and repairs, carrying out the full range of staff management functions at the first management level
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that labor and material resources are adequate for executing maintenance programs and repairs, providing up-to-date technical reference material for plant maintenance staff
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that work orders, logs, and other documentation are complete, accurate, and submitted in accordance with policy and provide technical support for implementing and monitoring approved projects
  • The candidates should be able to manage maintenance and support contracts with external contractors effectively and interface between Canada Post Corporation (CPC) and facilities management, managing contracted building services in some locations
  • The candidates should be able to stay informed about new technologies, maintenance, and management practices through job-related training and ensure ongoing development of competent staff through succession planning and training initiatives
