Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate
Security and safety: Immunization records, vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically capable of handling demanding tasks and comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as able to bend, crouch, and kneel as required

  • The candidates should demonstrate punctuality and possess efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent written communication and demonstrate flexibility
  • The candidates should show interpersonal awareness and be reliable

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers to ensure their basic needs are met and develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling activities to enhance children’s imagination and language skills and supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers to ensure effective childcare provision
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and organizing outings to local points of interest for children’s enrichment and order necessary supplies and equipment to support childcare activities
  • The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in implementing programs that foster children’s development and assist in record-keeping tasks to document children’s progress and activities
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in various activities, including storytelling, singing, and crafts, to stimulate their creativity and guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and toileting
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and cooking duties to ensure a safe and clean environment and observe children for signs of learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to provide written observations on children’s behavior and progress to educators or supervisors and participate in staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and address any issues that arise
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations to ensure compliance with childcare standards and establish guidelines for behavior to promote a positive and safe environment for children
  • The candidates should be able to assess children’s abilities, interests, and needs and communicate with parents and staff about their progress or concerns and collaborate with co-workers and community service providers to support children’s development and well-being
  • The candidates should be able to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and assistants to ensure smooth childcare operations
