Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 10 education
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 1 year of experience working with the public and providing service to customers in a recreational facility environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
  • The candidates should have completed AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
  • The candidates should demonstrate a working knowledge of the Department’s facilities, programs, and policies
  • The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of fitness programs and the use of fitness equipment
  • The candidates should have knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • The candidates should have knowledge of corporate computer software as an asset
  • The candidates should have a base knowledge of safe exercise practices, including the use of equipment
  • The candidates should have cash handling training provided by the City of Ottawa
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective decision-making and judgment
  • The candidates should have the ability to work effectively in both a team setting and independently with minimum supervision
  • The candidates should possess positive and effective communication and customer service skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate leadership abilities
  • The candidates should have the ability to relate positively and effectively with a wide diversity of people
  • The candidates should display initiative, reliability, and flexibility.
  • The candidates should have good communication and interpersonal skills are essential

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee and assist customers with the use of a City of Ottawa cardio or weight room facility or site
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant city by ensuring that communities, residents, and visitors have access to recreation and cultural places, programs, events, and services
  • The candidates should be able to oversee buildings and facilities management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities
