Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a 2-year Planning Technician course, such as Paralegal or Survey Technician
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, using sound judgment and tact when dealing with various stakeholders
- The candidates should be available to work a standard work week of 35 hours, with 7-hour workdays and perform duties in a comfortable office environment
- The candidates should regularly read and interpret multiple sources of information, with frequent use of a computer for typing, reading, and data processing tasks
- The candidates should be capable of handling deadline pressures and maintaining high accuracy levels in their work
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed high school and acceptable equivalencies of training and experience
- The candidates should have a strong understanding of legal descriptions, geographic information systems, records management, and survey plans and maps
- The candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills to conduct detailed research and prepare and sign reports effectively
- The candidates should have organizational and planning skills to handle multiple tasks, adapt to fast-paced environments, and align with departmental goals and objectives
- The candidates should have knowledge of land registration systems, common law, wills and probate, and the responsibilities of municipal, provincial, and federal jurisdictions regarding land administration and be familiar with the administration of government land holdings
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills to prepare accurate and timely research reports in response to requests from department staff, government departments, the public, surveyors, law firms, archaeologists, and historians
- The candidates should be able to interpret and evaluate cadastral/ownership information, legal documents, aerial photographs, legal descriptions, plans of survey, return of survey files, legal decisions, acquisition files, and historical records such as county portfolios and Crown Grants
- The candidates should be able to assist clients with inquiries regarding the status of land and records maintained at the Crown Land Information Management Centre
- The candidates should be able to apply their expertise to manage and analyze historical and legal records to support planning and land management objectives
