Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Grade 12 education or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have One year related cash-handling experience in a customer service environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of accepted procedures for handling cash, balancing transactions, and completing revenue (cash) collection reports
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of customer service principles and practices and have the ability to provide responsive customer service and convey confidence and competence
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact with customers and remain calm when dealing with customers during high volume periods
  • The candidates should exhibit the ability to maintain records and make accurate arithmetic calculations and should be capable of understanding and executing oral and written instructions
  • The candidates should have the ability to establish effective working relationships and possess skill in the operation of office equipment and automated systems, including a programmed cash register

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to serve customers who use recreation facilities, performing functions such as reception, general admission, program registration, and activity space rental
  • The candidates should be able to process general admission, LeisureCard sales, program registration, activity space rental payment, locker revenue collection, parking permits, city cards, etc., using an automated point-of-sale system, and receive customers entering leisure facilities
  • The candidates should be able to respond to related complaints and inquiries in accordance with established policy and procedure and be able to assist supervisory staff in providing shift orientation for new staff members
  • The candidates should be able to prepare shift revenue balancing reports, balance transactions to reports, balance cash float, and prepare a bank deposit and be able to provide program and service information, including schedules, program descriptions, policy explanations, and facility rental information
  • The candidates should be able to process program registration applications, class transfers, and withdrawals according to department policy. They should forward refund requests to supervisors for approval and processing and print class lists as required
  • The candidates should be able to process booking requests for designated spaces for short-term use, such as rooms for meetings, inform the Clerk 10 of any rental requirements, and forward all other rental/event requests to the supervisor. They should also initiate customer birthday party requests and forward them to supervisors for processing
  • The candidates should be able to enter admission pass usage information and revenue summaries into computer databases and be able to perform general office functions such as filing and word processing as required
