Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Degree in a related field
Experience: Candidates should have Six years’ progressively responsible experience working in community development involving public art administration and arts and culture programming, including two years’ supervisory experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess considerable knowledge of the theory and practice of arts issues applicable to municipal government
  • The candidates should have considerable knowledge of organizational and volunteer development and their application to personal and community development in the arts
  • The candidates should have knowledge of public participation processes, group facilitation, team building, and group dynamics
  • The candidates should have knowledge of current literature, standards, trends, and evaluation principles and methods applicable to arts development
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, including the ability to develop and conduct presentations, training sessions, and produce resource materials
  • The candidates should have the ability to develop, maintain, and facilitate processes and partnerships for successful project delivery
  • The candidates should be able to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, elected officials, outside agencies, and the public
  • The candidates should possess skills in the use of a computer using the Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, develop, administer, and evaluate programs, processes, and initiatives concerning Public Art
  • The candidates should be able to develop, coordinate, administer, and monitor civic arts and culture policy, services, and programs as identified in the City’s municipal culture plan
  • The candidates should be able to provide professional advice and counsel to arts and culture organizations and develop initiatives to support the City’s objectives to nurture and strengthen the local cultural community
  • The candidates should be able to ensure public art policies and procedures are followed and facilitate contract negotiations and payment to artists for City commissions
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other departments, consultants, and artists to facilitate technical reviews of concept, fabrication, and installation of public art
  • The candidates should be able to act as the City’s liaison with the Visual Arts Placement Jury and monitor fiscal administration of the City’s Public Art projects, including managing art projects attached to capital projects
  • The candidates should be able to manage documentation, registration, and conservation activities for the public art collection
  • The candidates should be able to develop educational and promotional strategies for public art programs to increase private sector and citizen awareness and encourage and develop local artists
  • The candidates should be able to select, direct, and supervise contractors, summer students, and student placements and assist with the planning of commemorations and dedication ceremonies
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the preparation and monitoring of related budgets
