Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma programs lasting from 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Medical exam, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and should be non-smoking
  • The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks and should be prepared for physically demanding work
  • The candidates should possess attention to detail and should be adaptable to a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be able to perform tasks involving bending, crouching, and kneeling, and should have manual dexterity

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers attentively, ensuring their well-being and comfort, and should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children effectively
  • The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers diligently, providing guidance and support as needed, and should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children appropriately
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest engagingly, and should be able to order supplies and equipment efficiently, ensuring the availability of necessary resources for child-care activities
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records accurately, documenting children’s progress and activities, and should be able to encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity enthusiastically
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts engagingly, and should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits attentively
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties efficiently, and should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods thoughtfully
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors meticulously, and should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors promptly
  • The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings constructively, and should be able to demonstrate knowledge of licensing regulations and ensure compliance with them effectively
  • The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior firmly, promoting a safe and respectful environment for children, and should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members sensitively
  • The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children collaboratively, and should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children effectively
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children conscientiously
