Job Description:

Salary: $19.67 to $26.54 hourly (To be negotiated) for 20 to 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Part time leading to full time
Location: Bedford, NS
Shifts: 09:00 to 18:00
Transportation information: Own transportation
Work setting: Child care centre, before and after school programs, and day care centre or nursery school

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 to less than 3 years
Area of specialization: Experience with special needs children and children with behavioral issues
Credentials: Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses, child development worker (ECE level 2), First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Child Abuse Registry check and vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be familiar with working in air-conditioned environments

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should prioritize punctuality, consistently meeting work schedules and deadlines, and demonstrate dependability, consistently fulfilling assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues and clients, and exhibit excellent oral communication skills in various professional settings
  • The candidates should be reliable, instilling confidence in their colleagues and supervisors, and be dedicated team players, fostering collaboration and cooperation
  • The candidates should uphold strong values and ethics in their professional conduct

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to order supplies and equipment, provide opportunities for children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, and maintain daycare equipment while assisting in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, and establish guidelines for behavior
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, as well as plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
