Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of minimum of two year diploma in Recreation and Fitness
Experience: Candidates should have minimum three years of experience in supervising students

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to communicate regular updates regarding Criminal Record Check policy to all placement participants
  • The candidates should demonstrate conflict resolution skills and experience with computer software
  • The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • The candidates should preferably have GeneSIS training and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have a clear understanding of the role of the Recreation and Leisure Services professional and industries
  • The candidates should preferably have experience in a wide variety of community agencies and experience using marketing and public relations skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to determine and manage lists of students scheduled for placement and review student information and data sheets and contact agencies to solicit placements
  • The candidates should be able to reassess placement sites on a routine basis and obtain confirmations of placement positions and confirmation letters and accompanying paperwork are forwarded to sites hosting students
  • The candidates should be able to compile, review, and distribute (or post) field placement materials to relevant stakeholders and prepare and post placement lists and support to field placement instructors or seminar teachers and site supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to arrange ParaMed sessions at Algonquin College for students attending placement in the fall and winter semesters and respond to information from media, colleagues, community and contacts
  • The candidates should be able to contact sites or agencies to promote and market FHP and RLS programs and to gauge suitability for program placements and arrange site visits to prospective locations and review updated listings through various social agencies
  • The candidates should be able to assist in inspecting prospective facilities and explaining expectations and responsibilities for field placement site approval and in determining the suitability of prospective sites for placement students
  • The candidates should be able to maintain an up-to-date list of placement sites for students to access, accurate and current information using Excel spreadsheets
  • The candidates should be able to collect, collate, and report Workplace Safety and Insurance Board statistics for the program and maintain an ongoing relationship with academic advisors and the coordinator to ensure conformance with academic rules and regulations
  • The candidates should be able to process, order, review, and replenish all field placement forms and refer all students with a non-clear Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check to the Chair
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with organizations such as ParaMed check student clearances and notify coordinator or faculty of any students with exceptions or not clear statuses
