Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 11
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; demonstrated programming experience in a recreational or applicable setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an educational background in Recreation or other related experience, which is an asset
  • The candidates should possess current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
  • The candidates should have completed AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
  • The candidates should demonstrate awareness of City of Ottawa Policies and Procedures, especially in relation to Safety/Security of programs
  • The candidates should have knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting or independently
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to train and supervise staff and volunteers
  • The candidates should preferably have computer competency
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent public relations, leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with flexibility
  • The candidates should possess creative intuition and be skilled communicators

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee the coordination of recreation, arts, special needs, aquatics, or sports programs to a variety of age groups in a recreational setting
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that communities, residents, and visitors have access to recreation and cultural places, programs, events, and services
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate the delivery of improved service integration in City facilities for the best possible client experience
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant city through the coordination of recreation, arts, special needs, aquatics, or sports programs
  • The candidates should be able to manage and oversee Buildings and Facilities Management to enhance service delivery integration
