Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or Intermediate or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience related to the operation and specification of light and heavy duty vehicles and equipment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to travel to work sites within the province by ground, waterways, and air, which may require overnight stays.
- The candidates should be able to work in all weather environments, including extreme temperatures in both winter and summer, and around job site hazards. These hazards may include construction equipment, rough terrain, roadway traffic, loud noises, dust, insects, vegetation, and exposure to chemicals and fumes.
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience with Microsoft Office, Keys OnLine, and Geo Tab computer programs, including knowledge of advanced features and extensive experience with vehicle and equipment management, including planning, directing, managing and coordinating
- The candidates should possess knowledge of Government of Manitoba policies and procedures relating to fleet management
- The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and courteously with internal contacts, other branches/divisions, and external agencies and vendors
- The candidates should exhibit strong leadership skills with the ability to work under limited supervision, plan/organize, and deliver a service in an environment of continuously changing demands throughout the department/province to meet short and long-term objectives
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
- The candidates should possess and maintain a valid Class 3 driver’s licence with Air Brake endorsement and without restrictions
- The candidates should showcase excellent analytical, interpretive, and written communication skills with the ability to maintain accurate records, prepare applicable correspondence, and associated reports for a wide range of audiences
- The candidates should have the ability to work independently and cooperatively to establish effective working relationships with all levels of management up to and including the executive
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish priorities, complete assignments on time, and work with little to no supervision
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to report to the Director of Preservation and Support Services
- The candidates should be able to plan, direct, and manage heavy-duty vehicles, light-duty vehicles, and equipment (trailers, snowmobiles, ATV/UTV’s) to ensure they meet the standards and service levels required by the Division
- The candidates should be able to be responsible for tracking and managing the decisions related to operational needs and asset management of heavy-duty equipment
