Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of the 10th grade
Experience: Candidates should have Food Safe training or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of physically demanding work in a fast-paced, hot, humid environment for extended periods of time
  • The candidates should be able to work in a standing position for a prolonged period and have the ability to check and respond to emails

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to operate modern dishwashing equipment
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize their work area efficiently and establish/maintain an effective work schedule
  • The candidates should possess the ability to understand and follow regulations, policies, and procedures related to food services and Centre operations

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of cleaning and kitchen tasks, including washing, sanitizing, and putting away dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that the work area is clean, organized, and free from hazards
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that all equipment in the dish pit is in clean, safe operating condition and report any need for repair to the Food Service Coordinator
  • The candidates should be able to assist other kitchen staff with receiving supplies and stocking
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that dirty dishes are brought to the dish pit, and food waste and garbage are sorted into appropriate recycling bins
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that dishwashing practices (personal hygiene) are compliant with food safe requirements
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain positive relationships and appropriate professional boundaries with staff, volunteers, and community members
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and provide guidance, support, direction, and coaching to volunteers as needed in the kitchen
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment for staff, volunteers, patrons, and community members to access food services
