Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Graduation from high school
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should occasionally lift and unload objects weighing up to 30 lbs
- The candidates should regularly stand or sit for extended periods, requiring constant repetitive movement of upper extremities and walking to deliver reports or results
- The candidates should have constant visual and auditory concentration, requiring eye or hand coordination and higher than normal levels of attentiveness
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have graduated from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science
- The candidates should have current and continuing certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as a general MLT or applicable subject MLT
- The candidates should have current and continuing registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals and satisfactory record of work performance
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform medical laboratory testing in the Biochemistry Laboratory and handle, sort, and store samples
- The candidates should be able to perform routine and specialized analysis of various body fluids
- The candidates should be able to maintain the integrity of the specimens through proper identification
- The candidates should be able to review all patient reports and enter data and participate in various research studies
- The candidates should be able to provide clinical guidance and instruction to students and and provide guidance to nursing, medical staff and perform other related duties
