Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have minimum two (2) year diploma in Library and Information Technician
Experience: Candidates should have previous experience using the Alma Library Services Platform an asset

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have two (2) years’ practical experience in an academic library setting, including circulation and reference work
  • The candidates should have two (2) years’ experience in working independently within a team-based front-line customer service environment
  • The candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should be successfully able to multi-task and possess a high attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support a variety of information service duties, including but not limited to: staffing the circulation and reference desks, operating the virtual chat service, and supporting other key library operations, reporting to the Manager, Student Learning Centre & Libraries
  • The candidates should be able to perform library desk duties, including circulation (borrower services), assist students with questions about college software, and troubleshoot equipment problems or request work orders if needed, as part of the team
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate strong leadership and relationship-building skills, be goal-oriented, deal with conflicting priorities, have a keen eye for detail, and possess excellent communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to stay current on research and assess trends and technologies related to best practices in the field of library science
