Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Technical School Diploma (2 years)
Experience: Candidates should have 4 years of related experience in park planning, maintenance management, asset management, mapping, and GIS

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work with assignments given by the supervisor and work reviewed through reports and meetings with the supervisor
  • The candidates should be able to handle short periods of intense concentration while performing infrastructure analysis, preparing reports, and making recommendations
  • The candidates should be able to meet multiple deadlines and prepared for occasional presence on work sites
  • The candidates should be able to focus on a variety of source data or computer for short periods and work primarily in an office setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should understand and apply the principles, methods, and practices of landscape or parks management, design, construction, infrastructure maintenance, and asset management relative to municipal park operations
  • The candidates should have advanced knowledge and experience with current city word processing, spreadsheet, and related specialty software, including Cartegraph
  • The candidates should be able to provide technical guidance and advice to users research and analyze needs and facilitate meetings and workshops
  • The candidates should be able to represent the city to the public and outside agencies and maintain effective working relationships
  • The candidates should be able to create procedural documentation, maintain accurate records and completed courses in database management, asset management, and GIS
  • The candidates should hold a current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and an equivalent combination of education and experience and prepared to substitute in a more senior position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain the City’s operations management system for Parks-related assets and their associated maintenance activities
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the development of long-term asset strategies and assist in developing and reporting on service levels and standard operational procedures
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate reporting on maintenance programs for Park assets, conduct inventory updates, data analysis, condition assessments, and asset lifecycle planning
  • The candidates should be able to establish field surveys, inspections, and data collection assignments in conjunction with asset management objectives
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the preparation of Park annual operating and capital work plans and preparing the five-year capital budget
  • The candidates should be able to research, analyze, and produce plans, drawings, digital maps, reports, and recommendations related to Park asset management
  • The candidates should be able to gather, organize, and present information related to asset management for Park operations
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other City departments in the development and support of GIS or asset management and Park asset planning
  • The candidates should be able to provide technical assistance and guidance to Park staff on preventative and reactive maintenance tasks
