Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a hospital-based or other recognized paramedical or emergency medical technology program
Experience: Candidates should have experience providing pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical treatment and transportation

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to perform shift work, including weekends and standby,  travel as required by the role and wear a uniform as specified
  • The candidates should be able to handle physical effort, hazards, and discomfort as outlined in the Job Description, including exposure to high stress and sensitive situations
  • The candidates should be able to manage verbally and physically aggressive behavior and work in awkward positions, both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should be able to lift and transfer patients with assistance and lift up to 50 lbs and work both independently and in a team environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate tact and diplomacy
  • The candidates should have a strong focus on patient advocacy and conflict management skills
  • The candidates should have experience working with allied agencies Police, Fire, Health Care Professionals and a valid PCP licence from a paramedic governing body in Canada without conditions or restrictions
  • The candidates should have a valid COPR certificate (considered equivalent at time of hire) and must obtain the license in the southern jurisdiction within one year
  • The candidates should have medical clearance, an RCMP check with a vulnerable sector check and a valid Class 4 Yukon driver’s license (or equivalent)
