Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have hold a degree in a health science and public administration
Experience: Candidates should have at least several years of progressive experience in relevant leadership or Management roles

  • The candidates should have experience, knowledge, and understanding of risk management or mitigation principles and practices, program implementation, and ongoing financial and human resource management
  • The candidates should have initiative, experience in leading teams, enabling change, and engaging key stakeholders
  • The candidates should note that experience working within the healthcare system, specifically Long Term Care, or demonstrated experience in program or contract management and design
  • The candidates should be aware that the Government of Nova Scotia has adopted the LEADS Leadership Framework and nursing professionals
  • The candidates should be familiar with the LEADS Domains, including Leads Self, Engage Others, Achieve Results, Develop Coalitions, and Systems Transformation

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to manage service accountability processes for Long Term Care programs funded by the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care to monitor and maximize operational and financial performance, reduce risk, and ensure quality resident care
  • The candidates should be able to provide oversight of long term care policies, program standards, and implementation
  • The candidates should be able to authorize payments to long term care service providers
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with others in Seniors and Long Term Care
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with multiple sectors, including other provincial and federal government departments, the NSHA, stakeholders, and contracted service providers, to advance progress in health system accountability, mitigate risk, and effectively communicate information which enhances program delivery
  • The candidates should be able to lead a high-performing team with the responsibility to liaise and provide direction and advice to the long term care sector, including NSHA, IWK, and DHW-funded service providers on policy and standard application and compliance
  • The candidates should be able to manage public inquiries and complaints regarding continuing care policies
