Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a diploma in recreation or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression
  • The candidates should be energetic, compassionate individuals who enjoy working with the elderly
  • The candidates should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong computer skills
  • The candidates should have possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification, as well as a Safe Food Handler’s Course, is required
  • The candidates should be able to work flexible hours and shifts
  • The candidates should have a passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with each resident and/or family to assess their engagement in meaningful activities in the six dimensions of wellness: Physical, Social, Intellectual, Vocational, Emotional, and Spiritual
  • The candidates should be able to assist each resident in achieving their goals to enhance their overall wellness and assist with defining strategies for achieving those goals
  • The candidates should be able to develop, analyze, and review resident-directed individualized and community-wide programs
  • The candidates should be able to foster partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate programming to ensure that the programs are meeting the residents’ needs and expectations along with upholding the established expectations
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with multiple departments to plan for full-scope wellness programming for all service lines
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement the process of orientation for each new resident to the recreation department, services offered, and activities/amenities available to them
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement special functions ensuring organization and cost efficiency
