Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French Language
Education: Candidates should have a High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) or Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma, or should have post-secondary degree/diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team OR a minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a unionized environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically capable of exercising effort to lift heavy equipment and tools and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions, including cramped spaces, heights, and other awkward positions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., understand the major features of each software application)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop plans to meet daily/weekly/monthly goals, processing strategies, and determine the necessary employees to meet service commitments. They should continuously monitor staffing levels and workload during the shift and make adjustments as necessary, considering the impact throughout the Plant. Furthermore, they should understand and work towards the goals and vision of operations, such as productivity, customer service, cut-offs, and quality
  • The candidates should be able to promote and implement workplace safety and health programs for their work unit. They should coach and direct employees on safe work practices to reduce accident frequency and severity. Additionally, they should conduct inspections and investigations, report and follow up on accident incidences or unsafe operating conditions, and oversee the return-to-work and accommodation of employees unable to perform the full range of duties in their job. They may also participate as a member of the local health and safety committee
  • The candidates should be able to direct, coach, provide guidance, and leadership to employees while promoting a respectful workplace environment. They should administer human resources processes, including staffing, performance management, disability management, and attendance management. They should be capable of resolving staff issues, including disciplinary action if required, and consulting with Labour Relations and/or union representatives on the application of the terms of the collective agreement, including the management of first-level grievances. Additionally, they should create learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for assigned staff
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate current operational methods and procedures and recommend improvements to optimize operational efficiency. They should implement changes and communicate with support groups as required
  • The candidates should be able to control and update data for reporting systems to ensure all Plant data requirements are met. They should analyze daily productivity reports to determine problems and trends and share analysis and key indicator results with the team
  • The candidates should be able to communicate frequently with the previous and post-shift Supervisors, providing a brief “recap” of key activities performed and discussing any anomalies that occurred during the shift
  • The candidates should be able to promptly respond to equipment failures, make adjustments to meet scheduled deadlines, prepare reports, and notify Production Control and Reporting
  • The candidates should be able to maintain employees’ time and leave records to ensure accurate and timely pay for all employees. They should produce reports, resolve related data issues, and perform other administrative tasks associated with a team leader role
