Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 1 year related experience in a performing arts theatre environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid, non-probationary Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence and a college certificate or diploma in technical theatre
  • The candidates should posses current Standard First Aid / CPR C / AED certification from an accredited organization
  • The candidates should be willing to submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • The candidates should have exceptional customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for the technical aspects of theatre production, including lighting, painting, and carpentry, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensure safety and provide quality customer service to all patrons and clients of the City of Brampton theatres
  • The candidates should be able to work with clients, professionals, and community performing arts groups to ensure a smooth load-in of lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, and stage equipment, and set-up of performances
  • The candidates should be able to provide technical support, including transportation, setup, installation, operation, and striking of lighting, sound, rigging, video, carpentry, and staging equipment and systems at City theatres, production scene shop, and other event locations
  • The candidates should be able to perform preventative maintenance on theatre systems, tools, and equipment, including lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, and staging, while assisting in maintaining an inventory of these and all City theatre technical assets
  • The candidates should be able to assist in ensuring all contract production requirements are met, including lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, wardrobe, scenic paint, properties, and staging and perform daily maintenance of all scene shop tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers to ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • The candidates should be able to assist in ensuring that technical requirements are met for the professional series, rental clients, and other city members by painting scenery and building properties and possess a radio and keys at all times during the shift to ensure clear communication and accessibility
  • The candidates should be able to provide direction and job assignments to contractors and coop students and communicate information and updates with Artist Liaison and Front of House (FOH) when necessary
  • The candidates should be able to generate various show-related reports and keep daily maintenance and equipment logs and maintain a safe and clean working environment by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, painting, and removing garbage from the stage and surrounding work-related areas
  • The candidates should be able to understand, apply, enforce, and adhere to Corporate Policies and Procedures, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants, contracts, staff, and attend meetings/training and perform other duties as assigned
