Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have 2 years office experience in an administrative role with demonstrated experience inputting large volumes of information

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and effectively with a high level of accuracy under tight timelines
  • The candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, including business subjects with an emphasis on general office practices, or completion of an appropriate certificate program
  • The candidates should be familiar with land titles documents and adept at reading maps and registered plans
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of Taxation, Assessment and Collection System (TACS), POSSE, and Alberta Land Titles
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent data entry and computer skills using various applications including Google
  • The candidates should be well-organized with strong multitasking skills and the ability to use good judgment in managing and prioritizing a large volume of workload
  • The candidates should have accurate data entry skills and proficiency in using various computer applications and customer service experience and the ability to respond to inquiries (verbally and written) in a professional and respectful manner
  • The candidates should understand that hire is contingent upon passing a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance, which is a requirement of this position
  • The candidates should be aware that the weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change in the future. Any adjustments will adhere to the City of Edmonton or Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to input information in the assessment and taxation database related to property and business ownership and account statuses and verify Land Titles interface updates, monitor and resolve land title messages, enter title rejections, and correct errors
  • The candidates should be able to research and create accounts and account relationships for properties affected by subdivision, road, condominium, or consolidation plans and create and update non-titled property accounts
  • The candidates should be able to process and distribute mail for the Branch, research and redirect mail returned by Canada Post, and update information on tax accounts and scan documents, file, and maintain source documents according to approved retention schedules
  • The candidates should be able to review processes, maintain procedure manuals, and identify opportunities for improvement and review data entry of peers and track workload using Google Sheets
  • The candidates should be able to respond to inquiries related to tax accounts from property owners, law firms, 311, the Edmonton Service Centre, and other operational areas and City Departments, ensuring responses are consistent with operational policies, procedures, FOIP, and other legislated requirements
  • The candidates should be able to conduct research, resolve, and respond to inquiries and issues related to ownership, school support, and mailing address changes
  • The candidates should be able to verify manufactured park ownership and respond to customer inquiries relating to manufactured home properties
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with other operational areas to resolve issues related to property tax account information and assist other operational areas during peak periods of workload
