Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 10 education
Experience: Candidates should have six months of experience in institutional cleaning

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to work under pressure and operate auto scrubber, floor buffer, and carpet extractor
• The candidates should have the physical and mental ability to perform assigned routines
• The candidates should have the ability to either fully squat or kneel, stand, and walk for prolonged periods
• The candidates should be capable of lifting and carrying 35 lbs and adhere to good personal hygiene practices

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should have knowledge of disinfection procedures, stripping, and refinishing of floors
• The candidates should be familiar with preservation of surfaces, shampooing of carpets and upholstery
• The candidates should be proficient in the use of housekeeping equipment and knowledgeable about employee health and safety/WHMIS
• The candidates should have a good understanding of safe body mechanics for lifting and bending
• The candidates should possess knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
• The candidates should understand and follow directions, as well as identify and report hazards in the workplace
• The candidates should be able to organize and prioritize work assignments, and be dependable, reliable, and professional
• The candidates should demonstrate flexibility with changes in work assignments and be able to work within a team environment
• The candidates should be cooperative, respectful, and courteous with residents, visitors, and co-workers

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to perform housekeeping duties associated with the maintenance of a clean, comfortable, home-like, and safe environment in the Long Term Care Home, with an emphasis on resident safety and engagement, in accordance with the Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007
• The candidates should be able to assist in the planning, coordinated development, management, and implementation of food, nutrition, and environmental activities, programs, services, and initiatives for the residents of a municipal long-term care facility
• The candidates should be able to prioritize resident safety and engagement while carrying out housekeeping duties in the Long Term Care Home
• The candidates should be able to adhere to all regulations and guidelines outlined in the Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007, regarding housekeeping duties and maintenance of the care facility
• The candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with other staff members and departments within Hospitality Services to ensure the overall well-being and satisfaction of the residents
