Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have a University education (or the equivalent) in journalism, communications or a related field
Experience: Candidates should have three (3) years’ directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field, as well as knowledge of TV/radio broadcasting and Radio-Canada’s various platforms

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to travel and work flexible hours

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have relevant experience putting together and delivering reports and live hits
  • The candidates should possess strong interviewing, writing, and storytelling skills
  • The candidates should have knowledge of digital media and social media, with the ability and willingness to innovate and explore new ways of doing things
  • The candidates should have knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and its Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Eastern Ontario and Outaouais social, political, cultural, and economic life
  • The candidates should have familiarity with general regional, provincial, and national current affairs
  • The candidates should have superior French-language skills (spoken and written) and intermediate knowledge of English (reading, spoken, and written) (BBB)
  • The candidates should possess a valid driver’s license
  • The candidates should have knowledge of production applications (e.g., iNEWS, Dalet, MediaCentral) in use at CBC/Radio-Canada, which is an asset
  • The candidates should demonstrate solid news sense, editorial judgment, and decision-making skills
  • The candidates should have a very high aptitude for learning new technologies
  • The candidates should be resourceful and self-starters
  • The candidates should possess interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate their day-to-day work to meet tight deadlines, as well as the ability to work well under pressure
  • The candidates should demonstrate a creative, enterprising, and inquisitive approach to fact- and news-gathering
  • The candidates should be open to feedback and have a keen interest in digital desk work

  • The candidates should be able to generate original ideas for storytelling
  • The candidates should be able to write, edit, and format digital news content effectively
  • The candidates should be able to handle the pressure of covering breaking news situations
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the National Capital Region
  • The candidates should be able to understand and address issues affecting the local population
  • The candidates should be able to comprehend the socio-economic dynamics of both sides of the Ottawa River
  • The candidates should be able to recognize the significance of public service in the region
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with others and innovate in their work
  • The candidates should be able to produce content for various Radio-Canada platforms
  • The candidates should be able to quickly compose texts for breaking news in a digital format
  • The candidates should be able to organize online news content effectively, including layout, headlines, leads, and multimedia elements
  • The candidates should be able to utilize the best photos, headlines, and leads to enhance the presentation of digital stories
  • The candidates should be able to incorporate links and other multimedia content appropriately into digital news articles
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of different digital formats and adhere to best practices in digital storytelling
  • The candidates should be able to propose original story ideas and produce them for digital platforms
  • The candidates should be able to conduct interviews to contribute to web production, including writing texts and editing clips for radio
