Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of post secondary education
Experience: Candidates should have experience in stakeholder relations with a high level of ability to influence and negotiate outcomes effectively

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work effectively with electronic spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software
  • The candidates should have the ability to travel within Toronto to attend in-person meetings with partner agencies and stakeholders and deliver training sessions and workshops, which may involve working extended hours
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently and in a team environment and possess excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative and problem-solve

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience and considerable project management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced, high-profile environment
  • The candidates should have considerable experience in the administration and delivery of housing, housing benefits, grants to non-profits, or similar programs that require working within a legislative (or similar) accountability framework
  • The candidates should have experience supervising, coordinating, and motivating staff, conducting performance appraisals, and managing labor relations matters
  • The candidates should have experience working with and interpreting financial and non-financial data, with the ability to use the data to assess program-related outcomes against established performance measures
  • The candidates should have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize information into clear and concise messages and prepare and deliver presentations, coupled with political acuity
  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy, tact, and political acuity

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure people at imminent risk of eviction are effectively and efficiently connected with supports to sustain their housing
  • The candidates should be able to monitor performance indicators, address barriers, and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple sectors to improve housing stability outcomes at both individual and system levels
  • The candidates should be able to lead staff teams responsible for program eligibility, case management services, resource management, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach
  • The candidates should be able to oversee daily operations while working on process efficiencies, relationship development, service delivery improvement, capacity building, and innovation within the Program
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement processes, policies, and systems for data collection to enhance the results-based accountability of the Program and Housing Secretariat Division
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and review program outcomes on an ongoing basis, adapting operational priorities based on up-to-date data on system-level impacts and emerging issues
  • The candidates should be able to monitor the contractual requirements of service providers to ensure compliance, financial accountability, and performance and and administration of agency or grants programs, which will be a major asset in this role
  • The candidates should be able to develop key messages for media inquiries and prepare briefing notes, justification memos, and presentations for diverse audiences, including senior management, Councillors, the Mayor’s Office, community stakeholders, and the public
  • The candidates should be able to understanding of the housing first principle, knowledge of eviction processes in Ontario, and application of housing stability or sustainability concepts
  • The candidates should be able to proficient in stakeholder engagement methodology and comprehend the housing and homelessness prevention resources available in Toronto
