Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a post-secondary degree in social work and social services
Experience: Candidates should have proven experience in a related field and a willingness to learn

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to create healthy, effective, and ethical relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have foundational legal knowledge to navigate and understand legal aspects of family court
  • The candidates should have a valid CPR and First Aid certification and possess strong crisis intervention skills
  • The candidates should have successfully completed a criminal reference check, including a vulnerable sector check

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide information about the family law process to clients and assist clients with the legal aid process and applications
  • The candidates should be able to conduct safety assessments and risk management strategies for each client, reviewing and adapting existing safety plans
  • The candidates should be able to debrief and discuss family court appearances, lawyer appointments, Family Law Information Centre meetings, and consultations with duty counsel
  • The candidates should be able to attend family lawyer appointments and court hearings when available
  • The candidates should be able to follow Ministry Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program standards, contact clients at prescribed intervals, and liaise with program partners as directed and provide referrals to relevant services and supports
