Shift: 35 hours week, Weekdays

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of DCS
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years mental health and addictions

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to perform heavy lifting, reaching, repetition, and bending and ability to work in partnership with clients
  • The candidates should have the ability to move, ascend, descend, and position themselves from the floor and back up for prolonged periods
  • The candidates should have the ability and flexibility to work independently on a range of tasks within specified time frames and deadlines, and to work as part of a team

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a minimum two-year diploma in a human services-related field and a minimum of one year of experience in the fields of mental health, addictions, and housing services and extensive knowledge and understanding of mental health and addictions services and a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • The candidates should have current registration with OCSWSSW or a regulated body under the Regulated Health Professions Act and mandatory certification in ASIST, First Aid/CPR, and Safe Food Handling, or be willing to obtain these certifications within 3 months
  • The candidates should have the ability to apply recovery principles and empowerment-oriented philosophies and practices and ability to recognize and diffuse potential conflict situations and extensive knowledge of standardized screening and assessment tools and extensive knowledge of community service supports and resources
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to observe boundaries, engage in appropriate emotional regulation, and refrain from inappropriate behavior and ability to demonstrate diplomacy and negotiation skills in client and system advocacy
  • The candidates should have the ability to make sound clinical judgments and effectively communicate those judgments to others and excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The candidates should have excellent computer skills and competency in software applications used by the agency and excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain sound relationships within and outside CMHA and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to engage in reasonable self-care strategies that incorporate balancing work or life responsibilities and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to provide effective client services in English, with bilingualism and acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire and maintain it throughout employment
