Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have successful completion of a two-year Office Administration program OR completion of a one-year Office Administration program from an approved/recognized college
Experience: Candidates should have two years’ experience within the last four in a progressively responsible clerical role

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should occasionally lift objects weighing less than 10 lbs
  • The candidates should constantly sit, but work provides the opportunity to occasionally stand and walk within the office environment
  • The candidates should occasionally be required to bend and stretch to perform work
  • The candidates should constantly be required to perform fine finger/precision work while using a computer mouse

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have successfully completed an approved/recognized medical terminology course
  • The candidates should achieve a medical transcription score of 70%, with a medical transcription test potentially administered by the Department of Human Resources
  • The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • The candidates should maintain a satisfactory record of work performance
  • The candidates should provide proof of completion of a current office administration program and medical terminology

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide secretarial support and be responsible for using Meditech software to organize and record clinical appointments, telephone reception, and corresponding with patients concerning appointments and waitlist management for assigned physicians
  • The candidates should be able to organize and maintain clinical charts, including ordering office and other supplies
  • The candidates should be able to type clinical transcription and dictation, as well as correspondence such as medical letters and administrative correspondence
  • The candidates should be able to prepare presentation material using available software and assist in the preparation of teaching and research materials
  • The candidates should be able to file clinical and administrative material and correspondence
  • The candidates should be able to perform other clerical and general office duties as assigned
