Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Baccalaureate degree in nursing and a Master’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in nursing education

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective time-management skills and the ability to prioritize

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a current practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
  • The candidates should have including experience teaching in all components of the Practical Nursing program  curriculum development or revision instructional development, delivery, and evaluation clinical expertise
  • The candidates should exhibit strong oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by presentations, facilitations, and report writing and possess proven leadership skills
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and a satisfactory work performance and attendance record

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership for provincial program delivery in consultation with the Associate Director of Non-Degree Programs and coordinate provincial program delivery to ensure consistency across all sites
  • The candidates should be able to lead orientation sessions for new site coordinators to ensure they are well-prepared and monitor the implementation of program regulations and policies to maintain program integrity
  • The candidates should be able to recommend and coordinate curricular changes at the provincial level to enhance program effectiveness and provide curricular and program delivery support to coordinators at the CNS and CNA sites
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and document attrition at all program sites each semester to inform retention strategies and act as a resource and consultant to the CNS Associate Director, CNA Associate Dean, and PN program site coordinators, faculty, and staff
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate exam question writing sessions and other professional development opportunities for PN program faculty and monitor placements for clinical practice courses and propose recommendations to address identified challenges
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate the development and review of exam questions to ensure provincial compliance with Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE) guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with key stakeholders and other external bodies, including the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL), NL Health Services (NLHS), and members of the nursing community provincially and nationally
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the preparation for accreditation and approval of the PN program by relevant bodies such as the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing and the CLPNNL and update the mapping of PN program outcomes and course objectives to the CLPNNL Entry-to-Practice Competencies
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the ongoing formative and summative evaluation of the PN program to ensure continuous improvement and assist with PN program recruitment initiatives to attract prospective students
  • The candidates should be able to participate as a member of the Non-Degree Program Committee and the Quality Initiatives Committee and chair the PN Program Curriculum Committee and lead discussions on curriculum development and implementation
