Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French or English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of 2 years of Community College education in the law enforcement field or be in progress of completion
Experience: Candidates should have 1 year of healthcare experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be motivated team players with a positive service-oriented approach, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a valid PSIS Security Guard License and 6 months to 1 year of security experience and be First Aid or CPR Certified
  • The candidates should have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public, staff, and clients
  • The candidates should demonstrate sensitivity towards Mental Health and Addiction clientele and work with minimal supervision, problem-solve, and exercise good judgment in varied situations
  • The candidates should have a fundamental understanding of computers and software applications
  • The candidates should have knowledge of fire and hospital emergency response procedures, W.H.M.I.S., and non-violent crisis intervention techniques
  • The candidates should be able to work with clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds
  • The candidates should have bilingualism (French or English) and proficiency in a second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to monitor and control the movement of patients, staff, and visitors through the perimeter of the Women’s Secure Forensic Unit (WSFU) and Secure Observation and Treatment Unit (SOTU)
  • The candidates should be able to provide both interior and perimeter security measures for the inpatient unit through surveillance and documentation
  • The candidates should be able to escort clients from Unit 3 to appointments throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
  • The candidates should be able to perform occasional security checks of the unit perimeter and safety or security equipment and manage key control for the unit
  • The candidates should be able to work extended tours, including days, nights, and weekends and conduct patient searches
  • The candidates should be able to support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
