Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Completion of the eighth school grade
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the operation of motor vehicles (Class 3 and air brake mandatory)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to drive the truck in the designated weight range
  • The candidates should be able to work independently under minimal or no supervision
  • The candidates must be physically capable of performing the duties assigned to the class, specifically in the presence of various weather and environmental conditions such as dust and noise
  • The candidates should have the ability to work safely and in compliance with the safety standards and policies outlined by the City

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions, including taking direction from others
  • The candidates should possess exemplary interpersonal, customer service, time management, and organizational skills
  • The candidates should maintain a positive outlook with an ability to work effectively in a team environment and Compliance with the City of Edmonton’s safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • The candidates must hold a valid Alberta Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement (or provincial equivalent)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate tandem axle dump trucks for the transportation of materials and equipment to and from job sites
  • The candidates should be able to ensure materials are transferred within a safe manner
  • The candidates should be able to perform light maintenance inspections on trucks, including checking oil, tires, and air brakes, and complete any documents as required
  • The candidates should be able to follow the policies and procedures of any facilities that materials are delivered to
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the project abides by any applicable City of Edmonton Occupational Health & Safety Standards and Guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the highest standards of performance according to the safety program or site safety program
  • The candidates should be able to attend and participate in safety meetings and advise of any health and safety concerns
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required, including working and assisting at the RTS (Residential Transfer Station), various site maintenance tasks including lawn maintenance, maintaining flower beds, repairs to signage, and miscellaneous areas on-site
